A six step process for effective expansion
Understand the opportunity and requirements
Amazon handed prep work back to sellers, and the consequences of getting it wrong land on you rather than on them. A carton that arrives wrong gets refused, refused stock sits somewhere earning nothing, and a launch date moves.
FBM keeps the things worth keeping. Your packaging, customer data & margin. It also puts Amazon’s performance metrics directly on your dispatch times, which is a comfortable trade at home and a much harder one from four thousand miles away.
On a marketplace, a slow delivery is the marketplace’s fault. On your own store it is yours. The box that arrives, the day it arrives and how easy it is to send back are all part of what someone bought, and they decide whether a first order becomes a second one.
Treated as a cost, a return is written off twice, once on the refund and again on the unit. Treated as inventory, a lot of it goes back on sale. What decides which of those happens is how quickly the unit gets looked at and how far it had to travel to be looked at.
Stock held inside the market it sells into arrives as a domestic delivery. No customs event on the order, and nothing for your customer to settle before the courier hands the parcel over. Ours sits in the UK, the Netherlands and the US, which covers...

From 27 July 2026, Amazon enforces a 75-character title limit across all non-media product categories. Titles that exceed the cap will be auto-truncated on that date. Amazon is not asking sellers to fix their listings — it is giving them a 14-day window to review AI-generated replacement titles, then acting on whatever remains non-compliant after July 27. The rule applies across Amazon US, Amazon UK, and EU Amazon stores simultaneously.
The 75-character cap applies to all non-media categories — meaning everything except books, music, video, and software. For the categories that matter most to US brands expanding into Europe — health and wellness, beauty, home and lifestyle, electronics, sports and fitness — the cap is in force from July 27. There is no category-specific extension or phased rollout announced.
Amazon is providing a 14-day preview period before the enforcement date. During this window, sellers can see AI-generated replacement titles Amazon has produced for any non-compliant listings. Sellers can accept, edit, or override those suggestions. After July 27, any listing still carrying a title over 75 characters will be auto-truncated at the cutoff point — regardless of whether that truncation makes the title readable or accurate.
Auto-truncation is not a clean fix. A title that reads well at 120 characters becomes an incomplete fragment at 75. The product gets harder to find, harder to understand — and the seller never made that choice. For US brands setting up on Amazon UK, Amazon DE, Amazon NL, and other EU Amazon stores as part of market entry, this is a listing requirement that must be met before launch, not after. A listing that goes live with a 90-character title in August 2026 will be auto-truncated on the first sync.
Expandly's listings setup for EU Amazon channels includes title formatting against current marketplace requirements. Any brand going through EU marketplace onboarding after 27 July 2026 will have the 75-character cap applied as standard from day one.
Expandly helps US ecommerce brands expand into Europe — compliance, marketplaces and fulfilment, all handled. We’ve supported 2,000+ brands make the move.
The 75-character title cap is part of a broader Amazon push to standardize product data quality across its marketplace, paired with AI tools that generate compliant listing content at scale. Amazon launched its Enhance My Listing generative AI tool in 2026; the title cap creates the compliance pressure that makes those tools necessary. For US brands building EU Amazon listings, the message is consistent: Amazon is raising the bar on listing quality and enforcing it programmatically. Getting listings right before launch — not after the first sync — is the only clean approach.
EU Ecommerce Market
European cross-border ecommerce reached €108 billion in 2025. Amazon accounts for a significant share of that marketplace volume — title compliance is the entry condition for being discoverable on the channel.
