A six step process for effective expansion
Understand the opportunity and requirements
Amazon handed prep work back to sellers, and the consequences of getting it wrong land on you rather than on them. A carton that arrives wrong gets refused, refused stock sits somewhere earning nothing, and a launch date moves.
FBM keeps the things worth keeping. Your packaging, customer data & margin. It also puts Amazon’s performance metrics directly on your dispatch times, which is a comfortable trade at home and a much harder one from four thousand miles away.
On a marketplace, a slow delivery is the marketplace’s fault. On your own store it is yours. The box that arrives, the day it arrives and how easy it is to send back are all part of what someone bought, and they decide whether a first order becomes a second one.
Treated as a cost, a return is written off twice, once on the refund and again on the unit. Treated as inventory, a lot of it goes back on sale. What decides which of those happens is how quickly the unit gets looked at and how far it had to travel to be looked at.
Stock held inside the market it sells into arrives as a domestic delivery. No customs event on the order, and nothing for your customer to settle before the courier hands the parcel over. Ours sits in the UK, the Netherlands and the US, which covers...

Every eBay seller can now run bundle discounts, the flexible multi-item tiered pricing that had been limited to a subset of accounts. eBay confirmed the change in its September 2026 Seller News, published on 3 September 2026, and the timing is deliberate. It lands ahead of the 2026 holiday season, when basket-building matters most.
Bundle discounts are the headline, but the deadline is the thing to diarise. Third-party access to the MyFitment vehicle-parts data tool ends on 30 September 2026, and parts sellers have to move to eBay's own Fitment Plus Auto tool, which began rolling out in September 2026. If your catalogue depends on fitment data, that is a migration with a hard date on it.
Two other changes matter less to most brands but say something about direction. eBay has tightened its auction anti-fraud policy, blocking buyers with repeat unpaid-item strikes across multiple accounts from bidding, and reserving the right to verify additional buyer details before an auction closes. Authenticity Guarantee coverage also widened in August 2026 to coins above USD 500 through a PCGS partnership, and to trading cards at a lowered USD 200 threshold.
The pattern underneath is familiar. Marketplaces are giving sellers more merchandising control while taking more control over who transacts and on what evidence. Both moves push responsibility towards the seller's own data quality, and a brand selling one catalogue across several European marketplaces feels that in every channel at once.
No fee changes were announced in this release, which is worth noting only because it is unusual.
Expandly manages listings and channel integration across European marketplaces, so a change on one channel does not become a manual job on all of them.

eBay opening bundle discounts to all sellers while tightening buyer verification is the same trade marketplaces across Europe are making, and each channel makes it on its own terms and its own timetable. A brand selling into several European markets carries separate VAT registrations, product compliance evidence and producer responsibility obligations behind those listings, and a merchandising change on one channel means nothing if the underlying registrations are not in place. Expandly's onboarding is compliance-first, and for a marketplace-led brand the first step is a channel and market review that fixes VAT registration and listing data quality together. Doing that once makes every later channel change a pricing decision rather than a project.
Cross-Border Buying Appetite
Most shoppers are willing to buy from a retailer in another country, and a third do it at least monthly. Marketplace merchandising tools only pay off where the cross-border logistics and tax position behind them already work.

MyFitment Migration Deadline
Vehicle-parts sellers lose third-party access to MyFitment and must move to eBay's own Fitment Plus Auto tool, which began rolling out in September 2026. Fitment data that does not migrate cleanly takes listings down with it.
