The first country you choose doesn’t just set your launch date. It sets your logistics footprint, your working capital cycle and your compliance load for everything that follows.
Compliance failures rarely surface at launch. They surface six months later, when cash is tighter, growth has accelerated, and unwinding the mistake costs more than getting it right would have.
Ads don’t kill margin overseas. The supply chain does, longer lead times, more customs exposure, more fulfilment nodes, more currency movement, all multiplying the moment you cross a border.
Most brands launch everywhere at once: Shopify, Amazon, eBay, TikTok, wholesale and retail, all in the same market in the same month. That’s channel chaos, not scale. We stabilise your platform first...
Brands rarely fail to grow. They fail by growing too early, pouring spend and ambition onto governance that isn’t structured, logistics that can’t absorb it, and channels that were never sequenced. Once Explore...
Most brands don’t lose internationally because they picked the wrong market. They lose because they never built a roadmap at all, so expansion becomes a series of launches and reactive fixes...
Amazon handed prep work back to sellers, and the consequences of getting it wrong land on you rather than on them. A carton that arrives wrong gets refused, refused stock sits somewhere earning nothing, and a launch date moves.
FBM keeps the things worth keeping. Your packaging, customer data & margin. It also puts Amazon’s performance metrics directly on your dispatch times, which is a comfortable trade at home and a much harder one from four thousand miles away.
On a marketplace, a slow delivery is the marketplace’s fault. On your own store it is yours. The box that arrives, the day it arrives and how easy it is to send back are all part of what someone bought, and they decide whether a first order becomes a second one.
Treated as a cost, a return is written off twice, once on the refund and again on the unit. Treated as inventory, a lot of it goes back on sale. What decides which of those happens is how quickly the unit gets looked at and how far it had to travel to be looked at.
Stock held inside the market it sells into arrives as a domestic delivery. No customs event on the order, and nothing for your customer to settle before the courier hands the parcel over. Ours sits in the UK, the Netherlands and the US, which covers...

EFSA published a positive safety opinion on EffePharm's β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (β-NMN) in Q2 2026, clearing the novel food authorisation pathway for EU markets. Full authorisation is pending publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. For supplement brands selling NMN in the US and UK, this is the most significant regulatory development in EU novel food for longevity ingredients in years — and it carries a compliance implication for those already selling into Europe without authorisation.
β-NMN is classified as a novel food in the EU, meaning it cannot be legally sold as a supplement or food ingredient without a specific authorisation granted through the European Commission. EFSA's positive safety opinion is the critical preceding step to that authorisation — it confirms the ingredient is safe at the proposed use levels. The opinion was based on EffePharm's proprietary application. While the authorisation pathway is now open, the final EC regulation specifying authorised uses, maximum daily doses and labelling conditions is still pending Official Journal publication.
Proprietary data protection is relevant here. EffePharm's application was submitted under the novel food regulation, which grants data exclusivity for a defined period. Other NMN manufacturers seeking to sell in the EU may need to submit separate applications or demonstrate that they are not relying on EffePharm's proprietary safety data. The authorisation, once published, will specify the approved manufacturer or source. Brands using NMN from different suppliers should take specific legal advice on whether they will need their own application or can trade under any existing general permission.
The implication for US brands currently selling NMN products into EU markets is direct: selling a novel food without authorisation in the EU is a compliance breach, regardless of the product's legal status in the US or UK. EFSA's positive opinion does not retroactively legitimise historic EU sales. It opens the pathway for compliant EU market entry once the EC regulation is published. Brands with EU exposure should take legal advice on their current position while the authorisation process completes.
Expandly's compliance onboarding includes novel food status checks as part of the pre-launch product review, so supplement brands understand their EU authorisation position before any stock crosses the border.

EFSA's positive safety opinion on β-NMN is a regulatory milestone for supplement brands with longevity and NAD+ products — but it does not mean NMN is now freely saleable in the EU. Novel food authorisation in the EU requires a formal EC regulation, and brands selling NMN without that authorisation carry real compliance risk, regardless of US or UK legal status. Expandly's compliance onboarding for supplement brands includes a pre-launch novel food check against the EU Novel Food Catalogue as a standard step. That check identifies ingredient authorisation status before products enter the EU, so brands enter with a clear legal position rather than discovering a compliance gap after their first shipment.
EU NMN Market Demand
NMN is among the fastest-growing longevity supplement categories in US and UK retail. EFSA's positive safety opinion signals the EU market is opening. Once authorisation is published, brands with compliant formulations and EU setup will move first.

EU Supplement Compliance Requirement
Directive 2002/46/EC requires a Responsible Person designation for food supplements in each EU market. Novel food ingredients require separate EC authorisation on top of standard supplement compliance. Both must be in place before any product reaches an EU consumer.

EU Responsible Person, Included
Cosmetics, supplements and electronics sold in the EU require a designated Responsible Person. Expandly provides this designation as part of your compliance setup, with no separate service or third party required.
