The first country you choose doesn’t just set your launch date. It sets your logistics footprint, your working capital cycle and your compliance load for everything that follows.
Compliance failures rarely surface at launch. They surface six months later, when cash is tighter, growth has accelerated, and unwinding the mistake costs more than getting it right would have.
Ads don’t kill margin overseas. The supply chain does, longer lead times, more customs exposure, more fulfilment nodes, more currency movement, all multiplying the moment you cross a border.
Most brands launch everywhere at once: Shopify, Amazon, eBay, TikTok, wholesale and retail, all in the same market in the same month. That’s channel chaos, not scale. We stabilise your platform first...
Brands rarely fail to grow. They fail by growing too early, pouring spend and ambition onto governance that isn’t structured, logistics that can’t absorb it, and channels that were never sequenced. Once Explore...
Most brands don’t lose internationally because they picked the wrong market. They lose because they never built a roadmap at all, so expansion becomes a series of launches and reactive fixes...
Amazon handed prep work back to sellers, and the consequences of getting it wrong land on you rather than on them. A carton that arrives wrong gets refused, refused stock sits somewhere earning nothing, and a launch date moves.
FBM keeps the things worth keeping. Your packaging, customer data & margin. It also puts Amazon’s performance metrics directly on your dispatch times, which is a comfortable trade at home and a much harder one from four thousand miles away.
On a marketplace, a slow delivery is the marketplace’s fault. On your own store it is yours. The box that arrives, the day it arrives and how easy it is to send back are all part of what someone bought, and they decide whether a first order becomes a second one.
Treated as a cost, a return is written off twice, once on the refund and again on the unit. Treated as inventory, a lot of it goes back on sale. What decides which of those happens is how quickly the unit gets looked at and how far it had to travel to be looked at.
Stock held inside the market it sells into arrives as a domestic delivery. No customs event on the order, and nothing for your customer to settle before the courier hands the parcel over. Ours sits in the UK, the Netherlands and the US, which covers...

The EU's Digital Product Passport is coming for consumer electronics. Under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), electronics manufacturers and importers will be required to attach a DPP to products sold in the EU: a machine-readable record of environmental, material, and repairability data. The first electronics categories hit the implementation timeline in 2027.
A Digital Product Passport is a structured data record, accessible via QR code, RFID, or digital link, that carries product-level information required by the EU. For electronics, the DPP will include material composition and hazardous substance declarations, repairability score and spare parts availability, end-of-life recycling instructions, manufacturer and importer details, and batch-level traceability data.
The DPP is not a label update. It is a data infrastructure requirement. Brands need the internal data architecture to populate a DPP correctly for each product SKU, which is a product data management challenge as much as a compliance challenge.
ESPR was formally adopted in 2024. The Commission is developing product-specific Delegated Regulations that set the exact DPP data fields and timelines for each category. Batteries are first, with DPP requirements applying from 2027 under the separate EU Battery Regulation. Consumer electronics including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other connected devices follow under ESPR Delegated Regulations expected to take effect from 2027-2028.
US brands have no existing DPP infrastructure. It's an EU-specific requirement with no direct US equivalent. Building the data architecture, supplier engagement process, and labeling or digital link implementation takes 12-18 months from a standing start. Brands that start in 2026 have a workable timeline. The supplier engagement dimension is often underestimated: to populate a DPP, brands need material composition data at a SKU and batch level from their manufacturing and component suppliers. Most US brands' supplier relationships are not structured to deliver this data automatically.
Map your product range against the ESPR product categories and the published Delegated Regulation schedule. Identify which SKUs hit the earliest compliance deadlines. Engage your supply chain on material composition data now.
2026 is the planning year. Brands that treat it as such will enter 2027 in a workable position.

The Digital Product Passport is the EU's data layer for its circular economy ambitions. By requiring machine-readable product records across multiple product categories, the EU is building the data infrastructure that enables extended producer responsibility enforcement, repairability scoring for consumers, recycling stream optimization, and supply chain transparency for hazardous substances. For US brands, the DPP represents a significant data infrastructure investment with no precedent in the US regulatory environment. The supplier engagement dimension is often underestimated: to populate a DPP, brands need material composition data at a SKU and batch level from their manufacturing and component suppliers. Building the supplier data collection process, including contracts, data formats, and verification procedures, is a 6-12 month project before the DPP system itself can be populated. ESPR also introduces repairability scoring and mandatory spare parts availability for consumer electronics, with the DPP making repairability scores visible to consumers at point of purchase.
Electronics DPP deadline
Consumer electronics DPP requirements are expected under ESPR Delegated Regulations from 2027-2028. Brands need 12-18 months to build the required data infrastructure from scratch.
