Your Listing Is Not Proof Your Cosmetics Are Compliant in Europe

A Reuters investigation published on 16 September 2026 found more than 20 skin-lightening products already flagged for prohibited mercury levels still listed on Amazon, Temu and TikTok Shop, including in France and Belgium. Three EU Compliance Deadlines Hit Beauty Brands This Summer

EU beauty brands face three separate compliance clocks running simultaneously in H2 2026. Regulations 2026/78 and 2026/909 — banning 15 CMR substances and introducing new labelling requirements for refillable formats — are already in force since May. A third deadline follows on October 10, when PFAS shall not be placed on the EU market or used in cosmetic products. Any brand shipping cosmetics into the EU should review its Safety Assessment before the next fulfilment cycle.
